Meet Our Minister, Rev. Erica Baron

Erica BaronHello, and welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington! I have served as the minister of the Fellowship since September 2008. I love my work with the Fellowship. I so appreciate the members of the Fellowship for their energy, their love and care for each other, their eagerness to engage in conversations about meaning, faith, ethics, and life. It is an honor and a pleasure to serve as the minister of the Fellowship

I am a lifelong Unitarian Universalist and a native Vermonter. I grew up in Essex, Vermont, and my family attended the Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, Vermont, and then the Mount Mansfield Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Jericho, Vermont. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. While I was there, I was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst.

After college, I spent a year working on a horse farm in Ireland in exchange for room and board. While there, I attended the Unitarian Church of Cork, Ireland. Then, I entered Andover Newton Theological School. I was the intern minister at First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist of Northborough, Massachusetts from the fall of 2006 to the spring of 2008. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton and completed my internship in Northborough in the summer of 2008. The Northborough congregation ordained me on August 31, 2008.

As you can tell, I have a passion for congregational life. I have a true and abiding faith in the power of congregations to be places of transformation and healing. I believe that when a congregation has a real and serious commitment to its covenant and mission it can take us to places we cannot imagine, but which will have the capacity to change each of us and the world around us.

I currently live in Rutland, Vermont, where I also serve as the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rutland. I live with my partner, Rachel. In my free time, I am a quilter and reader.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about Unitarian Universalism or our Fellowship. I hope you will join us for worship!
